The most common issue experienced when using Outlook with SSL enabled is the below pop-up error. This happens when you do not have your own SSL certificate installed on your domain ‘mail.yourdomain.co.za’. To secure your mail domain with your own ssl please click here otherwise please follow steps below to resolve.
Step 1 – Click on View Certificate
This warning indicates the server name does not match the name in your account settings.
Step 2 – Take note of the “Issued to” field click “Install Certificate”
- You need to choose to install the certificate or use the servers’ IP address or server name instead of using
mail.yourdomain.co.za
in your Outlook settings
Step 3 – Get mail servers IP address
- Type cmd on the Start menu to open a Command Prompt.
- Type
ping srv.hostserv.co.za
to find your IP address and the hosts server name.
- If the server name in the ping results matches the name on the certificate, use it as the mail server name in Outlook.
- If the name is different, ping the server name used in the certificate. If the IP address matches your mail server’s IP address use it as the mail server name in Outlook.
